THE SHORT ANSWER

Verify the actual placements, collected sales, machines and route work before buying vending. Sample cash/card evidence, product and commission costs, title/leases and location consent conditions. Budget permanent restocking, travel, maintenance and opening stock alongside price. A sales screenshot, reader-equipped machine or promised new location does not independently establish collected earnings, transferable access or passive operation.

Verify placements and acquired equipment

Review actual location agreements and proposed buyer access, service hours, commissions, exclusivity, duration, termination and assignment/consent. Distinguish operating placements from proposed sites and stored/offline machines. Confirm authorized location introductions when appropriate instead of assuming every account remains.

Check machine/reader identity, title, leases/liens, condition, payment/software rights and actual repair support. Use the consent register for location, equipment, software/payment, supplier and premises dependencies. A seller’s account login or equipment invoice alone does not settle every buyer right or liability.

Sample actual cash/card collections and costs

Sample machine reports, collection records, refunds, accounts and bank/processor settlements for consistent machines/periods. Explain unsettled card receipts, cash in machines, outages, stockouts and actual seasonality. Do not use projected foot traffic or advertised capacity as verified revenue.

Reconcile products used/spoiled, commissions, payment fees, labor, route travel, maintenance, storage and administration. Review actual concentration by location and continuation evidence without a universal 10% rule. Use the vending financial guide for reported-sample and earnings scope; seller dashboard collections are separate from supported continuing income.

Verify daily work and opening investment

Map purchasing, loading, driving, restocking, cash collection, repairs, customer/location service and management through the coverage worksheet. Confirm actual continuing staff, compensation, routes, vehicle/storage access and qualified support after seller help. Cashless payment technology does not perform physical service.

Review actual equipment inspections, maintenance and needed replacement with qualified people. Have advisers/authorities assess actual food/product, premises, tax and proposed operator conditions where applicable. This guide gives no repair or food-handling instructions and does not establish universal operating clearance. Budget actual permissions, stock and launch/service requirements before commitment.

Fund and document the cutoff and handover

SBA acquisition guidance encourages investment and operating-cost review.

(SBA: evaluating an existing business purchase)

Include product replenishment, commissions, permanent route staff, travel, premises, repair investment, collections timing, reserves and financing alongside price. Review actual lender conditions through the financing guide. Do not double count included machines or stock in a coordinated valuation.

Agree the cutoff for cash in machines, unsettled card receipts, location commissions, supplier bills, refunds and unfinished service through the delivery guide. Document lawful data/account migration and who services each location across closing. Compare funded duties, consent conditions and investment with closing cash; an equipment purchase alone does not guarantee placed-route continuity.

Buyer questions

What should I verify before buying vending?

Actual placement rights, cash/card collections, distinct costs, machine title/condition, permanent route work and funded handover duties.

Do sales dashboards prove cash received?

Reconcile the same machines/periods to actual collection and bank/processor settlement evidence, including refunds and timing differences.

Is machine purchase price the entire funding need?

Budget opening stock, continuing route costs, investment, commissions, timing reserves and financing alongside price.
