THE SHORT ANSWER

Reconcile completed-call economics to annual earnings, including travel, repeat visits, claims and necessary owner work. Support each adjustment and define parts, vehicles, receivables and liabilities within the price. Compare relevant transactions using consistent financial definitions. A warranty mix, generic multiple or direct-call remainder does not establish a certified company valuation.

Distinguish call contribution from company earnings

Separate actual warranty, direct customer and institutional work. Trace labor allowances, invoice/claim revenue, parts reimbursement, materials, repair time, repeat visits, travel, credits and collections. Keep reported revenue and reimbursed costs consistent with the accountant’s basis.

Invented arithmetic, not an actual repair, sector price or margin benchmark. Costs are distinct assumptions. Excludes overhead, unbilled dispatch/estimating, callbacks, additional labor costs, owner replacement, tax, debt, investment and cash timing; not established annual SDE or EBITDA.
Invented specified-call bridgeAmount
Specified revenue$200
Specified parts cost−$55
Specified labor cost−$70
Specified travel cost, not already included−$20
Remainder after only these costs$55

The specified costs total $145. Actual claim denials, extra visits or other expenses may change the result. Warranty dispatch and direct customer sales require achieved economics; neither type is inherently worth more.

Build supported annual adjusted earnings

SEC adjusted-measure guidance is an issuer-reporting presentation reference.

(SEC: non-GAAP financial measure interpretations)

Have the accountant reconcile the starting measure, period and each adjustment. Trace costs actually deducted, their purpose and ongoing necessity. Draws, principal, capital purchases and all personal vehicle payments are not automatic add-backs. Include necessary recurring diagnostic, repair, dispatch and claim-management replacement work consistently.

Use the earnings-basis guide to distinguish SDE, managed earnings and cash after financing, tax and investment. Show achieved improvements separately from forecast routing changes, new manufacturer work or future recruitment.

Review rights and the actual comparable scope

EPA Section 608 guidance concerns covered refrigerant work and equipment-specific technician certification.

(EPA: Section 608 technician certification requirements)

Verify the actual operation and appropriate people rather than treating an individual credential as a transferable company asset. Review manufacturer, supplier and software conditions separately using the consent register. A continuing relationship requires actual terms and approvals, not just a warranty revenue label.

Compare relevant service transactions by scale, activity, owner duties, earnings basis, period and included assets. No universal 2–3.5x range, 3x average, fixed earnings threshold selecting EBITDA or automatic authorization/reputation premium is established here.

Define parts, claims and delivery terms

SBA sale guidance addresses assets, liabilities and the agreement.

(SBA: closing or selling a business)

Verify parts ownership, usability, allocated jobs, supplier returns, vehicle/tool title, liens and condition. Identify unpaid or disputed claims, receivables, deposits, unfinished repairs and warranty obligations. Agree count, value and delivery definitions using the working-capital guide.

Determine what the proposed business value already includes before adding every part or van separately. Necessary investment, annual earnings and delivery adjustments have different purposes. Use the preparation checklist for company-specific evidence and judgment. The calculator computes assumptions; it does not certify an appraisal or verify actual market value.

Owner questions

Is the invented $55 remainder SDE?

It deducts only specified call costs; a full annual reconciliation is still required.

Does warranty revenue justify a standard price premium?

Review achieved profitability, collection, contract conditions and continuing coverage; no standard premium is established.

Are disputed claims worth their face value?

Review actual rights, approval, collection evidence and agreed treatment with advisors.
