THE SHORT ANSWER

Trace completed jobs through costs and collection, then verify actual equipment, crew and customer/provider rights. Review product and wastewater conditions for the work performed. Fund unfinished jobs and operating payments alongside acquisition costs. A stocked vehicle, reminder list or equipment demonstration does not guarantee repeat bookings or profitable delivery.

Trace the achieved service and customer mix

Sample actual residential/commercial carpet, upholstery and other offered work from accepted scope through crew time, supplies, travel, outside services, rework, credits and collection. Reconcile job reports to annual financial statements, including unbilled estimating and scheduling.

Review achieved repeat purchases, recall response, lost customers and material account exposure instead of a universal acceptable concentration percentage. Separate bookings from inquiries and identify deposits, promised dates and remaining costs. Use the valuation guide to distinguish job contribution, annual earnings and cash timing.

Verify equipment and actual crew capability

Inspect truck mounts, portable units, vehicles and tools appropriately. Review title, liens, leases, maintenance, condition and necessary investment. Demonstrated work today is separate from future useful life, maintenance expense and the buyer’s proposed service mix.

Identify estimating, scheduling, cleaning, equipment care and callback duties. Verify actual people and appropriate qualifications through authorized channels. Review customer specifications and provider permissions using the consent register. A planned hire or short seller transition is not evidence of continuing coverage.

Review product, wastewater and information conditions

The OSHA/NIOSH cleaning-chemical infosheet addresses product hazards, SDS access and training.

(OSHA/NIOSH: protecting workers who use cleaning chemicals)

Request actual product, label and training evidence for qualified review under current requirements. The advisory infosheet is not a full current standard or an inspection.

EPA’s NPDES basics distinguish discharge destinations and responsible-authority questions.

(EPA: NPDES permit basics and discharge destination)

Review actual wastewater collection, destination, service arrangements and permissions with qualified support. The overview does not authorize drain disposal. Resolve permitted use and secure handling of customer addresses, images, access instructions and provider systems before receiving or using them.

Fund accepted work and define closing delivery

SBA acquisition guidance encourages investigation of investment and operating costs.

(SBA: evaluating an existing business purchase)

Model wages/provider payments, supplies, transport, disposal arrangements, equipment spending and collections alongside the purchase and transition. Distinguish recurring costs, investment and timing without duplication. Deposits already collected may leave service still to fund.

Define stock, equipment, receivables, payables, deposits, open jobs and complaint/warranty responsibility with advisors using the delivery guide. Review current lender conditions using the financing checklist. Compare supported price, rights and remaining obligations; a service acquisition is not a guaranteed wealth strategy or an automatically approved loan.

  • EPA: NPDES permit basics and discharge destination

Agency overview, updated July 22, 2026: point-source pollutant discharge context and different municipal sanitary/storm-sewer questions.
